The Flying Merkels in business and trade.
Selling motors cycles required a dealer network and exhibitions at trade shows.
This photo is from 1917 and taken in Storuman in southern Lappland (Sweden). Here the road ended and if you wanted to continue west to the mountains and further to Norway and the Atlantic coast you had to take a steamboat. The man in the wagon is Gustav Rosén, liberal politican, from Umeå. He was member of the parliament 1912-1932 and also defence minister 1926-1928. He was governor of the county of Västerbotten. He was also editor and later owner of the newspaper Västerbottens-Kuriren. The driver of the mc is Hilding Carlsson, Umeå. He founded a company in Umeå that built railwaybuses.
